LIFE IN BELARUS

28/12/2011

BELARUS |

Today, we are scrambling somewhere new… this time we are in Belarus.

In early 2005, Belarus was listed by the U.S. as Europe‘s only remaining “outpost of tyranny”. In late 2008, there were some signs of a slight easing of tensions with the West, though this proved to be only a temporary thaw.

Again, we scramble beyond the politics and directly into the lives of Belarusians – reminding each of us of our shared humanity.

I spent a summer in Belarus…in 2003. It totally started my love affair with travel and volunteering, such an amazing and unique country.
