Tremendous Mexican actors Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna return to the big screen as executive producers of Miss Bala, a film starring Stephanie Sigman as a Mexican Beauty Contestant whose dream of becoming Miss Bala California is put on hold by her unexpected meeting with a violent cartel leader.

Bernal, said it was necessary to use Miss Bala (“Miss Bullet“) as an opportunity to speak about the violence that is currently engulfing Mexico. The confrontation among Mexican criminal organizations and the security forces has taken more than 45,000 lives since December 2006.

The film was made by Canana Films, the production company of Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, and has so far been well received at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, is currently gathering more rave reviews internationally.

This shocking film invites audiences to reflect to what extent the things they do have an impact on the place they are, and to wonder every day where they are, and where they would like to be.
